I've found one thing to be eternally true with my writing: either I'm (a) at a loss for ideas, or (b) bombarded with so many ideas I can't seem to handle all of them.
I try to get them nailed down in some form when they appear, so I don't forget - I can use them during those times when I'm at a loss, of course. I even went and bought one of those little digital recorders so I can just say something rather than scrabble around for pen and paper or wait for my laptop to boot up.
It's convenient, but the self-conscious side of me always feels like I'm talking to myself. Plus, I worry people might think I'm on some kind of ego-trip if I stop in a grocery store aisle to record a note to myself. I still can't fathom why I care what they think.
But I still find the whole feast and famine thing to be strange. Sometimes it's frustrating and sometimes it's funny, but it's always there.
You'd think I'd always be able to find something to write about, but a lot of the things that interest other people - fashion, celebrities, the latest gadgets, etc - don't mean anything to me. I still wear bluejeans and t-shirts, most of the 'celebrities' I follow are people you've probably never heard of or wouldn't get why I liked, and I buy the gadgets I like and know I'll use, not the ones 'they' say I should be purchasing.
I'm...unique, I suppose. Or perhaps just weird. Either way is fine, because I like being me.
The things I prefer to write about - really deep-down, might not be so good for pageviews or ad clicks. My writing isn't only about making money, but the bills do have to get paid.
When you're in a bit of a writing drought, though, how do you generate ideas that you actually care to write about? What gets your brain going?

I rarely have a problem with finding ideas for inspiration. If I do, I will watch the news or discovery channel if I need an idea for web content. For creative writing, nothing fills my head with ideas like sitting outside during the twilight hours with a cup of coffee or watching a storm. Great post!
Storms and nature are great for inspiration, aren't they? :o)
