Ideas Sleeting In From the Universe

Ever have one of those moments where you're just having a quiet time and all of a sudden you have about a billion ideas for things to write/do/see/experience?

Ok, maybe not a billion, but you know what I mean.

That happened to me over the weekend. I was talking about something completely unrelated to writing, reminiscing with my daughter about something in the not-so-distant past. She said "that would make a good book."

She was right. Of course it would! Why didn't I see that? I wrote it down, and ever since then it's like the floodgates have been opened. It's great, but it's a little scary.

Where do these things come from?

There are all kinds of theories, of course.

They could come from my own mind, working quietly behind the scenes; they could come from the collective universe through some kind of interconnectedness; they could come from God. Maybe somewhere else? Take your pick.

Either way, it's cool, and I suspect I'm not the only one who gets those crazy, epiphany-filled moments where it seems like you can't get everything down on paper fast enough.

I wrote down everything I could before it faded, and I've been doing that with new mini-epiphanies ever since this started on Saturday night, but I still feel like I've missed some things. They're there and gone so fast, sometimes.

I think I'm off to buy a small, digital recorder. I talk a lot faster than I write, and I'll be ready next time!
